If there’s anything Rihanna and Drake’s break up taught us, is to never get too invested in a celebrity couple’s relationship, hoping it somehow ends in ever-after.
Rihanna and Drake became the ultimate relationship goals for many of us who have been following the breadcrumbs that they have been leaving ever since rumors started that they were dating.
However, after months of trying to hide the relationship, Rihanna and Drake finally came out into the open about their relationship. In August, a source close to the couple confirmed that both superstars were officially dating.
“They are fully dating,” the source told ET Online. “No one really knows how long they have been ‘official’ — they just decided to let it become a thing instead of hiding it from everyone. They’re happy.”
As if that wasn’t enough to make us want to find our soulmate, Drake openly declared his love for Riri on the MTV Video Music Award stage. He did so while introducing Rihanna, the recipient of the biggest award of the night — the Video Vanguard Award.
“She’s someone I’ve been in love with since I was 22 years old,” the 29-year-old “Hotline Bling” singer said to the cheers of the crowds and tears rolling down their fans’ eyes.
And just after everyone thought true love still exists in the form of Drake and Rihanna, the couple called it quits.
“Rihanna and Drake are seeing other people at the moment,” a source said. “They are not exclusive anymore. They still love each other, but their schedules have gotten in the way.”
While short-lived relationships may not exactly be new in Hollywood, what freaked fans out was how they artists reacted over the split on social media.
And you know what happens when break-ups and social media are combined – disaster.
A few days after Rihanna and Drake’s break up and symbolic declaration that love was dead, the “Diamonds” singer took to Instagram to reportedly shade her ex (or exes).
“None of my exes are married or in happy relationships so it’s safe to say that I wasn’t da problem lol,” a photo that Rihanna posted read, along with a trophy emoji.
Meanwhile, Drake posted a black and white photo of himself with the caption: “Too mix up in drama to free my mind but I’m praying for you even in your darkest times.”
What is happening? What about the cute little babies Rihanna and Drake were going to make?
To make matters worse, an insider said that Drake is possibly “hooking up with India Love to piss off Rihanna.” India Love’s ex-boyfriend used to date or cheat on her with Bad Gal Riri.
Sooo. What have we learned from Rihanna and Drake’s break-up?
Never post anything on social media! It’s easy to go off on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter but it could be even more emotionally damaging for you and your ex-partner.
Instead, focus on healing yourself privately. And please… no Tinder at the moment!
