Comedian Pete Davidson had some time for Instagram over the weekend, specifically to answer some critics over his decision to gift fiancé “God Is A Woman” singer Ariana Grande his late father’s commemorative police badge.
Here is the badge in question:
According to The Daily Mail, the jewelry item featured the number 8418, which was Scott Davidson’s badge number he was wearing when he died during the September 11 terror attacks in New York City.
While fans of the couple regarded his gesture as a sweet one especially since you know, Ari is his fiancé, and he can gift her whatever he wants; one particularly irked commenter didn’t think the No Tears Left to Cry pop star deserved to wear the chain.
“No girl should ever wear your dad’s chain. So disrespectful,” whined commenter ej81842.
The comment received over 40 likes, which may have prompted Pete to respond, noted The Daily Mail.
“For [your]information that’s not just some girl. That’s my fiancé. She’s the greatest person I know. I gave it to her because she has my heart and that is the most precious thing I own. My dad would be so happy and love her so much,” Davidson wrote, addressing the commenter directly.
You tell ‘em, Pete!
Ariana and Pete got engaged earlier in June after a few weeks of dating.
