Orange is the New Black actress, Adrienne C. Moore recently spoke about how she felt filming a famous bathroom scene in the hit Netflix series.
The scene, where Moore was dancing around the prison bathroom and spraying deodorant on her body, was hard to shoot for the actress at first.
“I was so mortified about my size G/H breasts and my rolls, and being on TV and what people would say about my body,” the Orange is the New Black actress said during a panel interview following the Straight/Curve premiere, a documentary about body diversity in the fashion business.
However, as soon as the cameras started rolling, Moore momentarily forgot who she was and started to enter the world of her OITNB character, Cindy.
“I started forgetting more and more about the fact that I was frolicking around this bathroom in panties and underwear,” she recalled. “By the end of the day, I was just walking around the set in my panties like, ‘Are we ready to go to set? Are we doing this thing?’”
In retrospect, Moore said shooting the scene for the series helped her accept her curves.
“By the end of the day, I felt very empowered by that moment,” she said.
It also helps that fans took the scene positively.
“The reaction from the audience was, ‘Yes, the curvy, the sexy’ – it just further fueled my confidence in that moment. I said, ‘You know what? I think I could do more scenes like this,’” Moore said.
Orange Is The New Black season 7 will return in Netflix on June next year.
