Who wore the best costumes at the Met Gala 2017?
Every year, celebrities come together for the glamorous fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art. It’s an event wherein the best and beautiful wear the most outrageous and wackiest outfits, eat the most scrumptious foods and just bask in each other’s beauty – all for the sake of art, of course.
The Met Gala 2017 “theme” is to pay homage to Japanese designer, Rei Kawakubo, founder of Comme des Garcons (Art of the In-Between) and known for being a fashion boundary-pusher who comes up with the most incredible, avant-garde, androgynous designs.
And although some celebrities didn’t really follow the theme this year, we’ve seen a lot of gorgeous dresses on the Met Gala red carpet. Here are some of them:
Gliding down the red carpet in a black and white Versace dress, Celine looks like the perfect combination of wackiness and sophistication. Near, far, she’s wherever she is, this dress is one of our faves from the gala.
Proving once again that curves are beautiful, Ashley Graham brought her A-Game in this red and white silhouette H&M dress. Work it, girl!
We can’t decide which part of this ensemble we love most – the side bangs or the slit that made her leg pop out. Either way, Gigi Hadid’s asymmetrical dress is one for the books.
No one could rock a silver-coated scalp but Cara Delevingne. The model has always been known to have an edgy taste in fashion (and a spunky personality), so seeing her in this Chanel suit just makes total sense.
Talk about fierce! Bella Hadid, Gigi Hadid’s younger sister, strut the red carpet in this revealing, slinky, black cat suit. That’s one way to tell her ex (The Weeknd) that she’s so over him.
The jumpsuit seems to be taking center stage this year as Halle Berry turns up in this sheer, beaded Atelier Versace ensemble. Plus, those metallic gold accents in her train are just plain gorgeous!
Lily Collins appeared during the Met Gala looking like the doll of our haunted dreams. The pink and black combination of this dress goes well with her make-up and hair, which is why we think it’s genius.
Badgal Riri always puts her best food forward in every red carpet event. This year, however, the singer is probably the only one in the event who adhered to the theme. Not only did she wear this floral Comme des Garcons dress, she completely embodied what designer Rei Kawakubo was best known for: Risky, insane and stunning fashion.
Well played, RiRi. Well played.
