Katy Perry and Taylor Swift feud confirmed!
Until recently, the Katy Perry and Taylor Swift feud seemed like just a case of he-said, she-said – Until Perry finally confirmed it during her appearance on James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke segment.
In between singing her singles, “Roar,” “Firework” and her recent “Swish Swish,” the 32-year-old singer admitted that there really is a feud between her Swift.
“There’s a situation,” Perry explained to Corden, who brought up the issue. “Honestly, it’s really like, she started it and it’s time for her to finish it.”
The songstress also confirmed that their “beef” started when a few of Swift’s 1989 World Tour back up dancers (previously employed by Perry), decided to jump ship to Perry’s Prismatic World Tour.
“It’s so crazy!” Perry said of the incident. “Okay, so there are three backing dancers that went on tour with her tour, right? And they asked me before they went on tour if they could go, and I was like, ‘Yeah, of course. I’m not on a record cycle and get the work, and she’s great and all that.”
Perry explained that she was on a one-year record cycle at that time and told the dancers that if they wanted to tour with her, they would have to put a 30-day contingency in their contracts so they could join her.
“So that year came up, right? And I texted all of them because I’m very close with them and I said, ‘Look, just FYI, I’m about to start. I want to put the word out there,” she said. “And they said, ‘Okay, we’re going to go and talk to management about it.’ And they did, and they got fired. And I tried to talk to her about it and she wouldn’t speak to me.”
The “Bon Appetit” singer said she tried to reach out to Swift but was shut down.
“I do the right thing,” Perry said. “Any time that it feels like a fumble. It was a full shutdown and then she writes a song about me. I’m like, ‘Okay, cool. Cool. That’s how you want to deal with it? Karma.’”
Despite the long-standing feud, Perry said she isn’t closing her doors on a possible reconciliation and if Swift reached out, she would be 100% for it.
“But what I want to say is I’m ready for that BS to be done,” she said. “Now, there is the law of cause and effect. You do something and there’s gonna be a reaction. And trust me, daddy, there’s gonna be a reaction.”
She added: “I think, personally, that women together — not divided and, like, none of this petty — women together will heal the world.”
