You’d think that after a decade, a marriage would have weathered many types of hurdles to remain rock solid, but sometimes it’s just not the case.
Top actress Jennifer Garner recently got real about her ongoing divorce proceedings from Batman actor Ben Affleck; saying it was not the “kind of life” she envisioned for her family.
“I would not have chosen this life for myself or for my kids,” she told news.com.au at the premier of her new film The Tribes of Palos Verdes.
Garner and Affleck married in 2005, then later announced their separation in 2015. But the couple filed for divorce just this April, and is currently still under proceedings because cases can take up to six months in Los Angeles, according to a report.
The Juno star has said loved ones have been encouraging her to go out and date, but she said she isn’t ready to embrace the single life yet.
“I haven’t been on a date and I am not interested in dating,” she said. “People want to set me up and I am just like, ‘No thank you!'”
Affleck meanwhile, was already spotted out with Saturday Night Live producer Lindsay Shookus, just three months after the former couple filed for divorce.
While they might not be together romantically, Garner said they were very much co-parenting when it came to the day-to-day lives of their kids Violet (11), Seraphina Rose Elizabeth (8), and Samuel (5).
“I would not choose to be single or be in this position,” Garner continued. “It’s something that we are working through.”
Still, the actress added she still very much has love and respect for Affleck as the father of her kids, and the family would spend the holidays together for the sake of the kids.
“We will all be together for Thanksgiving,” she said. “I love Ben. We will be together with our kids and give them a special Christmas. We get along really well and it’s not an issue. We are friends; we can manage it.”
