Rihanna was relentless in teasing fans about her bomb products for her new line called Fenty Beauty, and when the products came out, people went nuts; but if there’s one presence in the beauty world that Riri fans aren’t too keen on, it’s that of Jeffree Star.
Arguing that he has released some pretty distasteful comments about black women in the past, Riri fans say he shouldn’t be allowed to have comments on a brand that is championing diversity and inclusivity, what with its 40 shades of liquid foundation that attempts to cater to all skin types.
But according to Revelist, Star went and did a review on the Fenty Beauty products anyway.
In a video posted to his Youtube channel, Star tried on the products and some beauty tools included in the Fenty Beauty line.
Starting with the Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Primer, Star said the packaging felt ‘heavy and luxurious’, and applied a little bit to the back of his hand.
“It’s a lotion-like consistency,” according to Star. “Not too tacky,” with a little bit of extra hydration.
He followed it up with the Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation, and even spoke a bit about the shade range available.
“Rihanna spent a lot of time working on this. There are 40 foundation shades with I think even more coming… a lot of times, brand release foundations with like 10 shades, and it’s like, girl.”
He applies the foundation with the Fenty beauty precision makeup sponge, all in all saying the application was ‘beautiful…very smoothening.’
He does note that it dries quite quickly, though, and it does oxidise (and change color a little) as it dries.
Star also tried out the Fenty Beauty full-bodied foundation brush, and was all praises.
“I thought the sponge worked great, but I’m a little more in love with the brush,” he said. “I thought it applied quicker and… I think the side with the brush looked a little more airbrushed.”
He also tried out the Blurring Powder and Match Stix, which are contour and highlighter sticks available in some pretty crazy colors.
