Ed Sheeran’s songs have a way of getting under our skin and after years of excruciatingly waiting and days of teasing, Ed Sheeran releases two new songs from his new album. Yes, TWO!

It’s been way too long since we’ve had a new Ed Sheeran album, the last one entitled “X” (pronounced as Multiply), was released in 2014. The album gave us hit songs like “Thinking Out Loud” and “Photograph.”

Finally, three years following “X” and a year-long silence, Sheeran drops two new songs from his album “÷” to give fans a little bit of hope. The songs are called “Shape of You” and “Castle on the Hill.”

“Cause I’ve been away for a bit here’s two singles rather than one,” Sheeran wrote on Instagram along with snippets of his songs.

Sheeran incorporates a lot of xylophone sounds into his new music, giving them a new twist. Even his style of singing is a little bit less of a lover-boy-with-a-guitar than usual.

A few hours after Sheeran posted his new songs online, Taylor Swift took to Instagram to show just how much of a fan girl she is of her red-headed bestie.

“OH MY GOD OKAY IT’S HAPPENING,” Swift wrote in all-caps. “EVERYBODY STAY CALM.”

And it’s not only Taylor Swift. On Twitter, people have been raving about Sheeran’s new music, which almost immediately skyrocketed to the No. 1 and No. 2 spot on iTunes.

The songs come after Sheeran’s year-long hiatus from the limelight. In December 2015, Sheeran announced that he was taking a break from social media or any form of communication after a whirlwind year and a half following the release of “X.”

“Hello all. I’m taking a break from my phone, emails and all social media for a while, I’ve had such an amazing ride over the last 5 years but I find myself seeing the world through a screen and not my eyes so I’m taking this opportunity of me not having to be anywhere or do anything to travel the world and see everything I missed,” Sheeran wrote.

Two months after, he won the Song of the Year for “Thinking Out Loud” at the Grammys.
