By now, you’ve got to admit that Cardi B. is a powerhouse; coming out into the scene all colorful and as real as she can be. She’s not shy about her background, but one thing is for sure, she won’t let anybody dictate how her relationships should go.
The ‘Bodak Yellow’ rapper recently spoke with Cosmopolitan about the allegations of cheating that continue to hound her Stir Fry rapper beau.
“It’s like everybody is coming down my neck like, ‘Why are you not leaving him? You have low self-esteem,'” she told Cosmo.
“I don’t have low self-esteem…I know I look good. I know I’m rich, I know I’m talented. I know I could get any man I want — any basketball player, football player,” she says. :But I want to work out my shit with my man, and I don’t got to explain why. I’m not your property.”
“This is my life … I’m going to take my time, and I’m going to decide on my decision… It’s not right, what he fucking did — but people don’t know what I did, ’cause I ain’t no angel,” she said, referring to her own antics in the past.
People reports that Offset’s infidelity came in the form of an alleged sex tape, which Cardi addressed in an Instagram post at the start of the year; after getting engaged to Offset last October.
And as for her stand on it? She’s right.
No two people are perfect, and she is obviously trying to take a different road of trying to fix things with her partner, rather than dropping what they had outright and carving out a new relationship.
But her matters of the heart aren’t the only thing people are used to questioning about the Bartier Cardi Hot 100 chart topper; issues with her past as a stripper are also frequently brought up.
No matter that she managed to rise above it, starred in a television show, and went on to collaborate with other incredibly talented musicians in the industry; all while coming out with her own material.
“People say, ‘Why do you always got to say that you used to be a stripper? We get it,'” she told Cosmo. “Because y’all don’t respect me because of it, and y’all going to respect these strippers from now on…Just because somebody was a stripper don’t mean they don’t have no brain.”
Damn straight, Cardi!
“Anything a man can do, I can do. I can finesse, I can hustle. We have the same freedom,” she said.
