The U.S. News & World Report just released a list of the best diets for weight loss in 2016 and yup, you should have done them last year.

Nothing is perfect; not even Beyonce’s hair. But there are some things that are close to perfection as you could be – like Beyonce’s hair. The same goes with diets. According to a press release from Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, there are diets out there that are easy to follow and stick to, has tons of benefits and could easily help you lose or keep off weight.

Here are the best weight loss diets in 2016, according to the U.S. News & World Report.

1. Weight Watchers

Weight Watchers is probably the most popular diet program in America and for good reason. Its main goal is to lose weight by encouraging people to choose healthy foods over unhealthy ones. The program assigns a set of points system for certain foods and beverage based on their nutritional value.

To help dieters better, Weight Watchers also has a support system – in-person meetings, phone and online chat lines to discuss weight management and diet techniques.

2. Jenny Craig Diet

Calories restriction, fat management and portion watching, that’s the focus of Jenny Craig Diet. This diet program has pre-packaged meals and recipes highlight healthy eating and changing one’s relationship with food. Jenny Craig diet is designed around one’s weight and may have a calorie restriction from 1,200 to 2,300 calories per day.

3. Volumetrics Diet

Coined by Barbara Rolls, a nutrition professor from Penn State University, Volumetrics Diet is more of an approach to eating rather than a diet. It is focused on the energy density of the food you eat, which can be categorized into four: Very low-density (vegetables, non-starchy foods), low density (starchy fruits, grains, low-fat meat), medium density (meat, cheese), high-density (chips, cookies, oil).

Very low-density and low-density foods should be the focus of your daily meals while you keep medium-density and high density foods in moderation. In a week or two, you’ll lose at least a pound.

4. HMR Program

The HMR Program was developed to lose weight as quickly as possible and maintain it. Also called the Healthy Solutions Diet, it involves reducing calories by replacing them with additional fruits and vegetables and increasing physical activity and mindful eating.

It involves a Quick Start diet kit which will contain all the foods you need for the first three weeks except for fruit and vegetables, which you can choose for yourself. After which, food shipments will be delivered every two weeks to help you with your new diet regimen. During the first week, you’re expected to lose 2 pounds and an average 23-pound weight loss after 3 months.

5. Biggest Loser Diet

This diet program calls bullshit on most diet programs today – it’s not about eliminating certain foods. It’s about choosing the right foods most of the time and getting off the couch. The Biggest Loser Diet highlights eating regular meals that highlight calorie-filling foods from lean protein, whole grains, vegetables and fruits.

Also featured in the reality show of the same name, the diet program includes a food journal and a special food pyramid to shed pounds and develop a healthier and more active lifestyle.
