Growing up in the 90s just wouldn’t be complete without mentioning the Spice Girls at one point: man, they were everywhere. But it looks like our hopes of a reunion are dashed before it could even get off the ground.
British website The Sun released a story earlier that there would be a 2018 reunion album next year, and noted that it will include Victoria Beckham; she who was been adamant about not going through with reunions anymore after 2007- 2008’s The Return of the Spice Girls Tour, and 2012’s London Olympics performance.
The Star added that Mel C brought about the reunion after she and Posh sunk a previous revival bid.
An insider said: “The five of them have been locked in secret talks since the summer, and finally they are all on-board for a 2018 reunion.
“As it stands, they will be working together on a series of projects, which will include an album and a TV special celebrating the Spice Girls.
“And getting Victoria to agree has been a coup for everyone involved, given she has always been the person holding back on a reunion.
“The fact she is on board now is down to how much closer the five of them have become recently.”
The insider, who The Sun said was a former aide who is now working with the girls again added that although things were “icy” between the women at the start of the year, they eventually began to get friendly again after news of Mel B’s divorce, and the birth of Geri’s son Monty.
“Plans at the moment are still in the early stages, and everything involving the girls tends to be complicated because they are so busy.
But according to Buzzfeed, they reached out to Mel C’s manager who said the 2018 reunion would be ‘unlikely’.
Oh well! But us 90s kids still better get to saving some concert money, you never know when these legends might cook something up.
