During the 2017 SAG red carpet, celebrities were as every bit fashionable as they were inspiring. We’ve seen dresses made from lace, sheer fabric, couture, vintage and all the good stuff in between.
As for the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) awards ceremony, the theme was political – everyone united against racism, misogyny, homophobia and xenophia, all concepts that the newly elect president, Donald Trump seems to be embodying.
And although SAG awards 2017 hired no host to tie all things together, the show was brilliant due to the actors’ powerful and inspiring moments on stage.
And did we mention the fashion? It was crazy! Yeah, let’s go back to the fashion!
Here are 7 of the most amazing looks on the SAG awards 2017 red carpet:
1.) Taraji P. Henson
Hidden Figures actress, Taraji P. Henson was every bit fashionable as she was inspiration at the SAG awards. Walking the red carpet in this sheer Reem Acra dress, Henson proved all the way down to her speech that she will not only be seen, she’ll also be heard!
“This story is about what happens when we put our differences aside, and we come together as a human race,” she said during the Hidden Figures cast’s acceptance speech for the Outstanding Performance by a Cast award. “We win. Love wins every time … They are hidden figures no more!”
2.) Kaley Cuoco
The Big Bang Theory actress, Kaley Cuoco looked sweet and sexy in this Marchesa gown. During a red carpet interview, Cuoco and TBBT co-star, Jim Parsons were “fighting” about seating arrangements. Good thing they weren’t fighting about who’s more adorable because honestly, even we can’t pick between them!
3.) Kirsten Dunst
To Hidden Figures actress, Kirsten Dunst, “Christian” was a significant name on the SAG red carpet. The first Christian was her date, her brother Christian Dunst. The second one was her dress, a white, semi-sheer, corseted Christian Dior gown which placed her at almost every SAG best dressed list this year.
4.) Maisie Williams
Maisie Williams definitely did not look like No One on the red carpet! The Game of Thrones star donned a pale pink Charlie Brea dress with dark lipstick to contast the look — and the result was stunning! Asked about her famous character, Arya, in the hit HBO series, the star said she’s trying to do her “justice,” especially in the final few seasons.
“I’m just trying to do the last few scenes that I have justice. I’m just trying to shape Arya the way that I have been so far and give her a nice arc to end with and hope that people are happy with it,” she said.
5.) Kerry Washington
Walking the red carpet in a Roberto Cavalli dress, Kerry Washington turned heads. But what most of us didn’t notice is a tiny political statement that completed her outfit — a safety pin.
“I’ll be wearing one of these tonight. On my arm. To show solidarity. We will not stop fighting for our safety & the safety of our fellow citizens and human beings. #NoBanNoWall #safetypin,” Washington posted on Instagram hours before turning up at the SAG Awards.
6.) Sophie Turner
Sophie Turner looked sexy and sophisticated as she graced the red carpet in an equally fiery gown from Louis Vuitton. The Game of Thrones actress continues to embody “friendship goals” as she gushes over her on-screen (and perhaps off-screen) sister and co-Stark Lady, Maisie Williams.
Hours after SAG Awards, the actress posted a photo with Williams on Instagram, captioning it with: “Bæ.”
